The registered keeper has 28 days to respond to the forms. If you fail to respond to the Notice of Intended Prosecution, a summons will be issued and you may be required to attend a Magistrates’ Court in the district where the speeding or red light running offence took place. They will deal with the case as above. If you fail to complete or sign the Notice of Intended Prosecution, you will be summonsed for the secondary offence of Failing to Furnish Information.

Failure to respond

Fine of up to £1000 and 6 penalty points.

Supplying false information

Possible imprisonment for up to two years.
